Laura Hamill, PhD, is an organizational psychologist and owner of Paris Phoenix Group, a consulting firm specializing in the intersection of science and HR. Her work is centered around employee well-being, employee engagement, and organizational culture. Laura was a co-founder of Limeade, an employee experience software company, holding the Chief People Officer and Chief Science Officer roles. Before Limeade, she worked at Microsoft as the Director of People Research and has worked at various other companies in employee research roles. A sought-after speaker and thought leader, Laura has keynoted at major tech and HR conferences and has been featured in Fast Company, Forbes, HR Executive, Inc., NPR, SELF, US News & World Report, and other top HR publications. She is writing a book with The Economist about organizational culture to be published in 2024. Laura brings workplace science and her applied experiences to the Happy at Work podcast.
Michael McCarthy loves a good conversation. As a serial entrepreneur his first business at the age of 16 financed his freshman year at NYU. From 1994-2004 he was the #1 Stock Market Timer in the world and after a brief period of early retirement (Michael got bored) he created the leadership sailing program for MIT Sloan and settled into a teaching career at Harvard University teaching entrepreneurship, sales management, and the positive workplace. In 2021 he earned a Masters Degree in Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. The Happy at Work Podcast is Michael’s way of sharing positivity and well being to the working world.
Tessa G. Misiaszek, PhD, is a professor at Hult International Business School. Dr. Misiaszek completed her PhD at Simmons University in Boston and has taught with the Simmons School of Business since 2011. She also holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science degree in resource economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr. Misiaszek brings extensive experience developing human capital strategies to improve business communications. Prior to joining Hult International Business School, Dr. Misiaszek was CEO of Empathetics, Inc., a company that developed empathetic communications training for healthcare professionals. She was also a principal consultant with Korn Ferry International Company, where she worked with integrated health systems to develop talent management strategies and implement large-scale communications training programs. Tessa also recently co-authored a book with The Economist called, Branding That Means Business.
